Elmer Joseph Hockman who would have celebrated his 93rd birthday on December 26th went home to be with his Lord & Savior on December 3, 2018. A longtime resident of Florida, he was originally from Washington D. C. His full & happy life was highlighted by his love of family, friends, his profession as an electriction/ life safety coordinator and cruising the world.
Elmer gave unselfishly of his time and talents to his community. Among the organizations he belonged to were: The Elks of Pompano Beach (where he was a Lifelong member) and The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Washington D.C.( where he was a 70 year member.)
Elmer proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and was on the flagship The Tuscaloosa during the Normandy invasion. Elmer loved dogs and was excellent at training them - the latest of whom is "Sweetheart" who continues to visit nursing homes and veterans along with Elmer's dear friend Denise Falabella who he considered a daughter.
Elmer is also survived by his brother Don Hockman in Maryland, his son John Hockman, 3 grandsons & numerous great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed especially by Denise who was with him at his time of passing and often spent time with.
