Lillian Garmon Neal passed away peacefully on December 4, 2018 at the age of 97. The daughter of Dr. Clyde N. Garmon and Bernice T. Garmon, she was born in Bessemer, AL on July 27, 1921. Lillian is predeceased by her husband and love of her life, George M. "Jack" Neal, her mother, father and her brother, Clyde N. Garmon, Jr. "Kap". Lillian is survived by her daughter, Jill Morris (Bob), and son. Jack Neal, Jr. (Carolyn); grandchildren: Scott Morris (Gretchen), Jason Morris (Leslie), Kate Harrison (Pete), Jackson Neal (Tiffany), Madison Neal (Haley): great grandchildren; Rob, Will, Jake Morris, Jack and Paige Morris, Simon Harrison and Scottie Neal.
A lifelong resident of Birmingham, Lillian attended West End High School where she was the President of her Senior Class. Following her high school graduation, she attended Birmingham Southern College where she served as president of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta.
Lillian provided a loving home for her family and was active in school, church and civic organizations. Throughout their lives Jack and Lillian's home was the center of activities for their children, family and friends. She always had a warm pound cake, hot cup of coffee and a smile ready for visitors.
Lillian will be remembered for her love for family and friends, sense of community, country and her faith.
Lillian's family will be forever grateful for the loving care she was provided by her final caregivers. Heather Shelton of St. Vincent's Hospice, Carolyn Gladney, Lommie Zene, Natasha Gladney, and the many others that provided her care and support.
On December 8, 2018, the family will host a visitation from 10:00 am to 10:45 am before a Celebration of Life Service for Lillian beginning at 11:00 am at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama 35209. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Lillian Neal's name to Foundation Fighting Blindness, 997 Lakeview, Suite 140, Vernon Hills, IL 60061
