Jeho was born on June 14, 1951 in Bolinao, Philippines to Isaias and Angela Ocuaman. He was born and raised in San Roque, Bolinao; a small rural community in the Philippines. He started life under humble circumstances. Most people were relatively poor so he wasn’t any worse off than his fellow human beings in the province. Jeho grew up with nine siblings. He had five brothers, Pepito, Gerico, Lomy, Romy, and Bobby; and four sisters, Nelly, Clarita, Helena, and Semy.
Jeho graduated from Cape Bolinao High School in 1969. His memorable achievements included winning singing competitions at the provinces in the Philippines.
Jeho was loyal to his friends and knew how to have a good time. Some of his best friends were Joel Molina, Jenny Sanchez, Fernando Fernandez, Audie Celino, Domingo, and Flor Pizarro. Later in life, he became friends with Jing Tabucol and Flaridel.
On November 7, 1979, Jeho left bachelorhood for good and exchanged wedding vows with Fe Catabay at St. James Parish of Bolinao, Philippines. With only a month of dating, Jeho knew Fe was the one! Their love endured the test of time. They were married for 39 wonderful years.
Jeho and Fe were blessed with four children, three sons, Gomer, John, and Jeffrey; and one daughter, Fatima. Jeho was the best father any son or daughter could ever ask for according to his children. If anyone had taught them anything about working hard, it's Papa. He never failed to get up and out the door every single day because he wants to do the best to provide for his family. Despite any hardships he faced, his priority had always been his family’s well-being above his. He endured all the hardships of immigrating to the United States where he could hardly speak the language, and built himself from the ground up to make sure we could have the best in the world. He also had eight treasured grandchildren, Jhanna Ysabel, Gem-Gem, Sofia, Gian, John Jr., Felix, Jefferson, and Jehro, caring in-laws Francis, Maolin, Angie and Lorna.
In his early professional years, Jeho served in the Philippine Constabulary for six years and then became a health inspector for a Philippine Health Department for 26. He then moved to the U.S. in 2004 where he worked so hard as an immigrant. He would work in laundry and as a janitor to provide for his family. Later, Jeho became a Casino Porter for the Stratosphere Hotel.
Jeho had a talent for singing. He loved karaoke, was a fine guitarist and would always sing along to Tom Jones, Elvis, and Frank Sinatra. Jeho was also a good cook! While he was not a fan of travel, he always loved going back to the Philippines every year after moving to the United States.
When Jeho's retirement finally came in 2016, he built a house and planned to move back to the Philippines but he had gotten sick, so he decided to stay in Las Vegas with his family.
Jeho Tobias Ocuaman passed away peacefully on December 5, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada after suffering end stage COPD. He is survived by his wife, Fe; sons, Gomer, John, and Jeffrey; and his daughter, Fatima. Services were held at Palm Southwest Mortuary. Jeho's wish was to be cremated, and his ashes will be buried with his mother, Angela, in the Philippines.
Jeho Tobias Ocuaman touched the lives of many people with his kindness and generosity. He leaves with all those who knew him many wonderful memories that will live on forever.
