In the early years of her marriage to D.C., she had her hands full being the mother of their two boys, David and Dewayne. As a mother, a child could not have asked for a better cheerleader, nurse, role model, or example of love in action. These roles continued as she morphed into her role as a grandmother to her five grandchildren.
Maxine had a passion for her family as well as others. She went out of her way to show kindness and support to those in need, and truly never met a stranger. She actively donated her time and talents to dozens of children’s charities and organizations through the latter part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Horton.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years D.C. Balentine; her sons, David Balentine (Amy), Dewayne Balentine (Sonya); grandchildren, Lauren, Daylor, Duglin, Luke, Perri; and her sister, Barbara Stevens (Shelby).
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
