Irving Nisonoff, 95, formerly of Jamesburg, NJ, passed away on December 7, 2018 at his home in Whiting surrounded by family. He was born on January 23, 1923 in Jamesburg, graduated from Jamesburg HS and attended Rutgers College before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was a decorated World War II veteran, served under General MacArthur in the 126th infantry, participated in the liberation of the Philippines and attained the rank of Sergeant. Irving served on the Jamesburg Board of Education, Lions Club, American Legion and the Jewish War Veterans of America. He was the proprietor of Nisonoff’s Market and Stardust Luncheonette in Jamesburg. Devoted father of Mitchell Nisonoff and partner Michael Posner, Beth Esch and husband James, and Philip Nisonoff and wife Jennifer. Proud grandfather of Mackenzie (Matthew DiDonna), Zachary (Melissa Zielinski), Tyler, Hunter, Spencer, and Sophie. He was predeceased by his wife Joan Laura Huttner Nisonoff, parents Morris and Sophie, and his older brother Albert. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, December 11, at the Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapel, 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ followed by burial at 2:30 in the chapel at Brig. Gen.
