Debbie, So sorry I did not see the obit until this afternoon.  I last saw your Dad at Daddy's funeral 11 years ago. You did a wonderful job in the picture tribute.  Such memories I have of you and your Mom and Dad.  Your family has grown considerably since last we were together.  I pray your memories will be a comfort and bring you and your family peace in the days to come.  I would love to see you...please contact me when you have some time.

Our sympathies to Debbie and her family.  My Dad, Lyle Huffman, met in the Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey.  This southern gentleman and Illinois farmer became lifelong friends.  And Jack was the epitome of a southern gentleman.  Since Jack had no sons, I became, in my eyes, a “son” to him.  He followed me growing up, getting married, having a child, and my career with great interest.  

My dad, Jack, my mom and Myrna would sneak into the Ryman  Auditorium to see the Grand Old Opry after the intermission,when you didn’t have to pay.  I have heard stories of Jack and Lyle going around to New Jersey car dealers to test drive cars.  Even though they had no money and no intention to buy anything.  Wonderful memories!

I’m sure Jack and Myrna and Lyle are all reunited again-sharing stories of kids and grandkids!

I went to work at McDevitt & Street Construction Company where I met Jack in 1989.  From the first introduction, I knew I was in the presence of a kind and gentle soul.  We remained good friends for all the years we worked together.   He help me "learn the ropes" and was always there to encourage everyone.  I was one of many blessed to have known such a true gentleman.  My heart and prayers are with you today and the days ahead.  His love for all of you was well known around the office.  I'm sure he is already putting together the perfect budget to keep the doors of Heaven open for business until we see him again.  God bless.
