Richard J. “Rich” Cichon, 47, of Swansea, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Amy (Feilhauer) Cichon, with whom he shared 19 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Richard P. and Casimira (Walesiewicz) Cichon.
Rich earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UMass Dartmouth and was a Software Engineer for Fidelity Investments for nearly 20 years. A true outdoorsman, he loved fishing and camping, but his absolute pride and joy, in addition to his beloved wife Amy, were his two golden retrievers, Kacey and Ryleigh. Always up for an adventure, he hiked throughout many trails in the Northeast with his dogs by his side. His other passion included his 1967 Chevy Camaro, which he built and restored completely from the ground up. A firm believer in paying it forward, he volunteered at the Church of Our Saviour Soup Kitchen in Somerset, as well as providing therapeutic dog visits to those in need.
In addition to his wife and dogs, Rich is survived by two sisters, Janet Tavares and her husband John, and Carolyn Cichon and her husband David Gaughan; a brother, James Cichon and his wife Karen; in-laws, Larry and Ann Feilhauer, and a brother-in-law, Paul Feilhauer. He is also survived by a large loving family including aunts, uncles, cousins, six nieces and one nephew.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 from 8:30 to 10:30 AM in the Waring Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by his funeral mass at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St. Somerset. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to Church of Our Saviour Soup Kitchen, 2112 County St., Somerset, MA 02726, or Forever Paws, 300 Lynwood St, Fall River, MA, 02721.
