Mary Virginia Lyons was born March 30, 1931 in Milton, PA and passed away December 20, 2018 in Sugar Land, TX. She was born to Franklin D. and Mary M. Steinbaucher Wolfe. The family moved to Montoursville, PA in 1945 where she attended Montoursville High School and graduated in 1948. Then, in 1950 she won the title of Miss Colombia during the Centennial Celebration of Montoursville.
Virginia married John P. Lyons at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Aug. 9, 1952 where she and John were members for 32 years. They were married for 50 years until John's passing in 2002.
John and Virginia moved to Bradenton, FL. in 1984 where they were happy to escape the cold weather and snow. While enjoying the sunny Florida weather they both continued to work, play at the beach, and travel. An avid lover of antiques, Virginia worked with several auctioneers in both PA and FL. She had a keen eye for unique pieces and had an extensive collection of precious glassware. She was a member of Mary Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church for 29 years.
In 2013, Virginia moved to Houston, to the home of her daughter and son-in-law. In October of this year she entered Eden's Reflection assisted living where she passed peacefully in her sleep.
Mary is survived by her five children; Gale (James) Bullock of Houston, TX , John (Simona) of Atlanta, GA, Christopher (Debra) of Orlando FL, Steven, of Houston, TX, and Richard (Angela) of Sarasota FL; along with ten grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
We will all miss her great sense of humor and beautiful smile.
The family will arrange private services in both Houston and Bradenton in the near future.
