Julia was born in Fairmont, WV to Mr and Mrs George DeBolt on September 29, 1924. She was graduated from Fairmont Senior High School and West Virginia University with a degree in English.
Early in her career, Julia worked for the Governor of West Virginia on the Gaming Commission in Charleston, WV.
In 1969, Julia met the love of her life, Charles Hauston. Julia and Charlie were married in 1969 and settled in East Stroudsburg. They enjoyed traveling to Florida and Georgia several times a year. Julia remained connected to her friends and community from Fairmont and the couple often enjoyed traveling back to WV to visit with old and dear friends and family.
Julia was a real estate agent in the Stroudsburg area for many years. She took great pride in and enjoyed her work.
Julia was an avid bridge player, college football and basketball fan, loved a good golf match and was quite astute regarding the stock market. She played bridge with her regular group every single Wednesday for many, many years. Julia never missed a West Virginia University football or basketball game on television and loved cheering on the Mountaineers.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, in March of 2009.
Julia is survived by several cousins, three of whom remained fairly close over the years, Stephanie Henry of New York, NY, Mike Duffy of Ann Arbor, MI and Cynthia Finley of Charlottesville, VA. She also had two dear friends who played extremely important roles in the last several years of her life – Kathy Cook of Stroudsburg and Karla LaBar of East Stroudsburg.
There will be a graveside funeral service on January 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Prospect Memorial Cemetery with the Reverend Eric Moser of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating.
