Shirley Clarice Otto, 101, of Lago Vista, Texas died December 20, 2018, at Cedar Park, Texas. She was born May 28, 1917, in Quincy, Illinois, to Frank J. Mangold and Irene L. (Dendler) Mangold. She was the second of four children and was preceded in death by an older brother, Frank E. Mangold, and younger brother, Leroy C. Mangold.
She attended and graduated from Quincy Senior High School. Shirley married Robert Lee Otto October 7, 1939, at First Christian Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother while also working years for Sears in Springfield, Illinois, where she and her husband made their home for over 50 years. She was a member of Springfield’s Southside Christian Church and volunteered at Lewis Memorial Christian Village for many years.
She is survived by her only child, a son, Robert Leroy Otto (wife Carol) of Lago Vista, Texas, two grandchildren, Julie Atkinson and David Atkinson (wife Kindra) of Newburg, Missouri, and a sister, Bettie Brower of Mebane, North Carolina. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cousin, Louise Burns, aged 102, of Quincy, Illinois.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL 62703, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm and on Friday from 9:00 am to 10:15 am.
Services will be Friday, January 4, 2019, at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd, Springfield, IL 62703, at 10:30 am with P.J. Condit, Lead Minister of Community Christian Church, Round Rock, Texas, officiating. Shirley will be buried in Camp Butler National Cemetery with her husband.
