René was born in Mexico City to Leonor González and René Ferandel on April 23, 1962. There he attended Colegio México and Centro Universitario México (CUM) until 1980. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture where he also met many of his life long friends. The following year he married his beloved wife Virginia Pfister Godoy in Guatemala City. Their enduring union of 32 years was a constant source of love and strength for both throughout life’s journey.
In 1991 René completed his Masters in Business Administration at Georgia State.
René pursued his aspirations through his career in architecture where he worked with great care and perseverance in all aspects of his work. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a profound thinker and resilient individual who sought to carve his own path through determination and good will.
That said, René’s ultimate joy in life came from caring for his family whom he supported in every way imaginable including his unwavering presence at every event and unconditional support through every struggle. Without exception, he demonstrated what it meant to be a generous father, devoted husband, and loyal friend. His sharp humor and cheerful nature had a unique way of brightening one’s day and served as a constant reminder to enjoy the moment.
René is preceded in death by his father René Ferandel.
René is survived by his wife, Virginia; his three children, Gisele, Christopher and Matias; his two sisters, Odette and Giséle; and his mother, Leonor.
