Sara Marie Willen, age 38, passed away in her sleep January 1, after a brief illness. She is survived by her beloved husband of nine years, Keil Holmstrom, and her adored 3 rescue fur babies. Sara grew-up in Dublin, Ohio and attended college in California and graduated from UNLV. She and her husband are the owners and operators of Soy Delites, LLC, an artisanal candle company based in the Houston – Austin, Texas area. While in college, Sara started an at home pet care business, Puppy Playpen.
Sara cared for all animals, especially those in need, and volunteered for multiple organizations and events throughout her life. She enjoyed reading, especially Celtic folklore and anything by Catherine Feehan. Her hobbies included cooking, travel, dancing, and music. This past summer She, Keil, along with her Mother and Sister traveled throughout Scandinavia. Those memories are even more priceless now.
In addition to her husband, Sara is survived by her mother Diana Willen [Newport, Ky]; her father Gary Willen [Carrollton, Oh]; her mother-in-law, Patricia Holmstrom [Horseheads, NY]; father-in-law Roy Holmstrom [Linda] [Las Vegas, Nevada]; as well as her grandparents Vince and Loraine Pace [Debary, Fla]; Gloria Willen [Malvern, Oh]; and her sister Marieke Bruss [Columbus, Oh]. She was a dear niece of her many aunts and uncles through birth and marriage, as well as her cousins. Her family and friends spread across the US.
She is missed tremendously. Her mother-in-law, a quilter, provided quilted patches for thoughts to be included with Sara.
Celebrations of life will be held in multiple places at future dates.
Family and friends are welcome to contribute to a no-kill dog rescue organization in her memory. Pet rescue was a cause dear to her heart. Two suggested organizations are Best Friends Animal Society [organization headquarters in Kanab, Utah] and GRRAND Goldens [organization headquarters in Louisville, Ky], a golden retriever rescue group.
