Bruce was the third oldest of ten children and truly knew what it meant to be a big brother. He was there to help when needed and was always loyal. He was also a hard worker all his life with a strong work ethic.
Bruce was an army veteran of the Vietnam War. His unit was C Troop, 7th Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry whose motto was "American by birth, Calvary by the grace of God.” Years later, he became an active member of his local VFW Post 10140 and made many friends.
Later in his life, he enjoyed spending time with his family, winning at card and dice games, and singing karaoke. He will fondly be remembered by his friends and family as a thoughtful husband, loving father, proud grandfather, dependable brother, and a respected friend.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Betty Richards; siblings, Lynda Hart, Ronald Richards, Greg Richards, Vernon Richards, and Mary Lou Collins; nephews, Derrick Richards, James Hart, and Ben Richards; and granddaughter, Natalie Hoffman.
He is survived by his wife Betty Richards; children, Andrew Richards, Matthew Richards (Laurie), and Katie Hoffman (Greg); grandchildren Skyler Richards and Lydia Hoffman; siblings, Cindy Singletary (Frank), Chuck Richards (Deborah), Jeff Richards (Gale), and David Richards (Becky); in-laws Sue Richards and Cornell Collins; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home located at 12690 North 56th Street in Temple Terrace, FL. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 6-8PM. Funeral will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10AM. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
