Jack ONeal Nix passed into the presence of the Lord January 9, 2019. He was born in Carbon Hill, AL on November 1, 1928. Jack was an active member of First Baptist Church of Tallahassee since 1979, and served as deacon at seven churches for 70 years. His rich bass voice and love for singing and directing Gospel music was a passion his entire life. He retired from PPG after 31 years, founded Glass Service Center in 1979, and mentored other business owners. He was a glass man and woodworker, having served as past-president of The National Glass Dealers Association and on the board for many years. As an active member of Civitans and Builders for Christ he invested in the community. He loved and served his Lord and his family faithfully, pointing others to the Gospel of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marie D. Nix, parents, Grady C. Nix and Lucy B. Harbin Nix, brothers, Macon, Billy, and David Nix, and sister, Pauline Nix Myers. He is survived by his wife of 15 1/2 years, Barbara Johnson Nix, sister, Elsie Langley, daughters Debbie Nix Howard (Pratt), Rhonda Nix Jones (Howard), Anita Nix, Donna Bauer (David), and son, Cliff Johnson Jr. (Dorothy), granddaughters Amanda Davidson (Allen), Brittany Jones Scott, Tiffany Jones Dantzler (Robbie), Darbi Bauer, Danielle Bauer, great-grandsons Sawyer and Lawson Davidson, CJ and Levi Scott, Ethan, Jedidiah, Walker, and Alysa Dantzler.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday at Culley’s on Riggins Rd. The funeral service will be at 10 am on Friday, January 11 at First Baptist Church of Tallahassee with interment following at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park on Timberland Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church 108 W. College Ave, Tallahassee, FL 32301.
