She was born to her late parents, Pella and Neva Royal in Bernice, LA. on August 6, 1925. She enjoyed working in her yard, tending her garden, playing slots at the Casino, eating shrimp, and loved her Classic Country and Gospel Music. Most of all, she loved her family very much.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Carolyn Scalisi and husband Terrell of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Tracy Cradeur-Opfer and husband Doug of Georgia, Michael Cradeur and fiancé Jessica of Lake Charles, Jebb Cradeur and wife Kelli of Lake Charles; great grandchildren, Tanner Vollman, Taylor Barbry, Seth Cradeur, Kate Cradeur, Sam Cradeur; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Homer Winfrey; her parents; four brothers, Coy Carroll, Davis Carroll, Pete Carroll, Watt Carroll; four sisters, Irene Morris, Annie Bell Goss, Odie Shaheen, and Floy Felter.
Services will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles at 10:00am on Saturday, January 12, 2019 with Bro. Glenn George officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday, from 8:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
