Clyde Carlton Francisco passed away on January 9, 2019 surrounded by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara, and their family.
Clyde was born on June 20, 1927 in Hastings, Nebraska to Helen and Ira Francisco. The Franciscos moved to Upland, Ca. when Clyde was two years old. He graduated from Chaffey High School in 1945 and attended Chaffey College where he was on the winning 1947 Junior Rose Bowl football team.
Barbara and Clyde met at Chaffey College and then graduated together from UC Santa Barbara. After college they moved to Shandon, Ca. where he began his teaching career.
Two years later he got his dream job at his alma mater, Chaffey High School. He taught in the Chaffey District for over 30 years. At Chaffey he was a teacher, coach, counselor, athletic director and then became a member of the school board.
He was affectionately known as “Mr. Chaffey” and in 2007 he was given the honor of having the gym at Chaffey High School named after him, the Clyde C. Francisco Gymnasium.
“Mr Chaffey” was an integral part of the Chaffey District and will be greatly missed by the many people who considered him a friend, teacher, coach, and role model.
Mr. Francisco is survived by his wife Barbara, his 3 children Lynne (Don), Brian (Susan), Robin (Steve), 4 grandchildren (Lindsay, Farren, Garrett, and Tyler) and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death in 2004 by his grandson, Andrew ❤️.
His Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 26th at 11:00 am in the Clyde C. Francisco Gymnasium on the Chaffey High School campus.
