He was born on June 18, 1934 to the late Otis Herbert Hunt and Myrtle Anna Huffman in Catawba County. Lamar was a lifelong servant of Faith Reformed Church. He was a United States Navy Veteran where he was a radio operator on the USS Douglas A. Munro. He also, attended Clevenger Business College. Lamar was a jack of all trades, he knew just about everything in trucking. He was a scout master for several years for the First Church of God. After he retired from Poteat Motor Lines, he worked at Walmart for seven years. Lamar never met a stranger, he loved his family and his church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and his in-laws, Albert and Clara Wallace.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Ann Hunt of the home; sons, Kevin Hunt and wife Tricia of Morganton, Kelly Hunt of Charlotte; daughters, Krista McCorkle and husband Wayne of Hickory, India Richards and husband Collin of Hickory; grandchildren, Morgan Brown, Chelsea Hunt, Zachary Hunt, Khamari McAuley, Jayden Richards, and Kennedy June Richards, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11: 00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Harry Griffin will be officiating the service.
The family requests that friends and family attending the service wear a shade of blue in honor of Lamar and for love and support of Ann.
