Constance Marie Thompson, age 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 26, 2019. She was born on November 27, 1943 in Flint to parents Robert and Anna (Kellogg) Rutter. Connie grew up in Flint and attended Central and South Western High Schools. In 1961 she attended St. Joe’s School of Nursing but did not complete her Associate’s in nursing until 1986 when she graduated with her daughter from Mott College. She retired from Genesys Home Healthcare and she and her husband Fred moved to Arizona for ten years where she enjoyed golfing, cross stitch, and collecting horsehair pottery. Soon, the distance became too much and they moved back to Michigan to be with the grandkids. Connie, or “Lala” as her grandkids called her, loved going to all of their sporting events. She will live in the hearts, eyes, and smiles of her grandchildren forever. Connie is survived by her husband of 32 years, Fred Thompson; children: Caryn Langdon, Jennifer (Scott) Thibodeau, Joseph (Danielle) Panula, Traci (Rick) Bukowsky, Kelli (Brian) Bradshaw, and Michael (Amanda) Thompson; grandchildren: Nicholas, Jayden, John, and Addison; seven step grandchildren; siblings: Cathy Smith, Cheri (Jim) Heck, Cynthia Schultz, and Colleen (Gary) Steele. She was preceded in death by both parents and her brother, Robert Rutter. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society.
