Ida Mae Skultety, 101, died on January 27, 2019, at UnityPoint Taylor House in Des Moines.
Ida Mae was born on February 3, 1917, in Schuyler, NE to Leo and Anna (Arps) Davis. She was a nurse by profession, but her family was her avocation. Throughout her life, she was active in the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society and choir. She also volunteered at Bishop Drumm, was a member of the Mercy Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Polk County Medical Society Auxiliary. Many other organizations benefitted from Ida Mae’s generosity over the years.
Ida Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James, and sister, Elaine Byrd. She is survived by her children, Leanna (Patrick) Rist of Indianola, Elaine (Darrell) Ball of Clive, Janice (Ron) Bird of Des Moines, Jim Skultety of West Des Moines, Dan (Patty) Skultety of Phoenix, AZ, and Paul (Michelle) Skultety of Lenexa, KS, Mary (Mike) Hoye of California; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Monday, February 4 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm on Sunday afternoon at McLaren’s Funeral Chapel. A Rosary will be prayed at 4 pm. Entombment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart or Bishop Drumm.
