Melinda Jean Strader, age 62 of Arlington, passed away on January 29, 2019 with her family at her side. She was born on February 13, 1956 in Ft. Worth, Texas, the daughter of Donald and Laura (Medford) Altizer. Melinda married the love of her life, Jimmie Strader and together they celebrated 26 beautiful years of marriage.
Melinda graduated from LD Bell High School in Hurst and she worked for Trans-American Real Estate Tax Services. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, loved TV and movies, camping, the outdoors and watching the Texas Rangers. Melinda was a woman with a heart of gold, always helping people and never met a stranger she couldn’t talk to. Her love for animals was just as important as her friendships. If you were her friend or a stray animal there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for you.
Melinda is survived by her husband Jimmie; sisters Kathleen Smith, Marilyn Moffett and husband Bob, and Marcia Altizer; nephews Jarrett Coulson and wife Kimberly, and Darren Smith and wife Daniela; nieces Shannon Johnson Glaser and Rachelle Moffett Boyd and husband Chris.
Melinda’s greatest joy in life was spending time with and spoiling her great nieces, nephews and Godson: Magdalena, Claudio, Aston, Lorenza, Kohen and Godson Connor Jennings. The children all adored her, she was their 2nd grandmother. Melinda was survived by a host of family and friends.
A celebration of Melinda’s life will be at 1:30pm on Saturday, February 9 at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, Arlington. In lieu of flowers, Melinda’s wish was donations to be made in her honor to the American Association for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
