Ann Wiitala graduated from Oregon City High School and then attended University of Oregon, where she was a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. After college, Ann married Thomas C. Wiitala. Together, they had three children, Jim, John and Mary. Ann prided herself on being a lifelong volunteer. The family spent much of their time at the beach house they built together in Neskowin, Oregon.
Everyone who met Ann saw her love for her family, St. Gabriel Church, the University of Oregon Ducks, chardonnay and her friends. She had an unstoppable drive to make the world a better place. Ann was a 27-year volunteer for CASA for Children in Portland, served on their board of directors and help change the lives of countless children.
Ann spent many of her years traveling and exploring the globe, through train trips in South Africa, visits to England, Ireland, Italy, Alaska and countless other places. She had a deep appreciation for music, art, flowers and theater. She loved sharing these passions and creating memories with her family and friends.
Aunnie will be loved and remembered by her children, Jim, John and Mary, their spouses, Dawn, Mimi and Kevin; her four grandchildren, Elliot, Emily-Rose, Katy and Travis; and special friend, Doug Casebeer. All who know Ann will understand that her burial will remain private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s memory to CASA for Children of Multnomah, Washington, and Columbia Counties. Donations may be mailed to 1401 N.E. 68th Ave., Portland, OR 97213, or made online at: https://bit.ly/2S2yQwf
