Jiu Zhen is survived by her husband (Zhi Fang Zhang), her daughter (Jia Zhang), her son-in-law (Weiwu Wang), and her grandchildren (Allen Wang and Lisa Wang).
Jiu Zhen was born on April 22nd, 1931 in Shen Yang, China, to parents Jun Ying Guo and Feng Xiang Wang. She moved to Beijing at age 17 to attend secondary school, followed by Beijing Foreign Studies University where she graduated with a degree in Russian Studies. She went on to be an elementary school teacher for the next 20 years in Beijing.
Jiu Zhen was a loving wife and a caring mother. In 1954, she married her lifelong partner, Zhi Fang Zhang, who shared her passion for education. The following year, the couple gave birth to their wonderful daughter, Jia Zhang.
In 1989, she moved to Ann Arbor, MI, where she would remain for the next 30 years, happily raising her two grandchildren, Allen and Lisa.
Jiu Zhen was a beautiful, loving, patient, and resilient woman who had a strong passion for education and music throughout her life. She was extremely devoted to her family, showing her love through unwavering support, care and attention. Jiu Zhen was considered the centerpiece of her family, the glue that held the family together.
Her family and friends will always hold her close to their hearts, just as she held them in hers.
A Funeral is scheduled for 11AM Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jiu Zhen Wang’s life.
