Elena Zuníga, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her adoring children and family on February 1st, 2019. She was 99 years old, born in Lima, Peru on August 18, 1919. Elena graduated from Lima High School and earned her Bachelor in Education from the Teaching Institute of Lima. She married Tobias Zuniga her loving husband on October 14th, 1945. They shared a loving and inseparable life for 53 years. She joined the staff of Mater Admirabilis School and soon thereafter became the School Vice Principal and Director of the English Department. She worked there for 25 years. Elena and her husband joined their family in Florida in the early eighties where they lived for the rest of their lives. She enjoyed gardening, reading, philosophy and psychology. Elena is survived by her 4 children, 7 grand-children and 7 great- grandchildren, extended family in Peru and friends. She had a beautiful mind and high ideals; she was a lover of learning, her life was an inspiration of love, understanding and service which set an example to follow for her children, their families and all the lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her husband Tobias.
A private family ceremony and celebration of her life will be held in Jupiter at a date to be determined.
