Angela Gautreaux Bratcher – devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt – went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, January 31, 2019, in Baton Rouge due to complications from kidney cancer and B cell lymphoma. She was 62 years old and a longtime resident of Gonzales. Angela was born on May 1, 1956, in Baton Rouge to Vernon James and Mary Ann Landry Gautreaux. She was a graduate of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic School and East Ascension High School, and received her bachelors degree in business administration from Louisiana State University. Angela retired as a business manager after many years in the family insulation business. She approached her life with tenacity and a servant’s heart, and quickly adopted anyone she encountered as a beloved family member. Angela was never happier than when she was entertaining and ensuring everyone was well fed. She was a lifelong musician and thoroughly enjoyed the arts, traveling, the beach, and her family. Her greatest source of pride and joy was being a mother to her daughter, and a grandmother to her grandchildren. Angela moved heaven and earth for those she loved. Her Catholic faith was a tenet of her life, and she shared her faith with others through her warm hospitality. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Laura Bratcher Esfeller and Patrick Esfeller, of Henderson, Nevada; her grandchildren, Emmi Esfeller, Gracie Esfeller, and Kaylei Esfeller; her parents, Vernon and Mary Ann Gautreaux, of Gonzales; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Monica and Benny Landry, of Gonzales; Maria and J. Marc Rowland, of Baton Rouge; and Rebecca and Brent Frederick, of Baton Rouge; her godmother, Joyce Landry Pasqua, of Gonzales; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Angela was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sylvanie and Telcide Bercegeay Gautreaux, and Joseph S. and Elmire Young Landry, all of Gonzales; her godfather, Lionel Gautreaux, of Baton Rouge; and her brother-in-law, Wayne “Skip” Wiley, of Gonzales. Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Tuesday, February 5, from 5-9 pm, and on Wednesday, February 6, from 9-11 am, with services following at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge at noon. A short reception will follow in the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall. The family wishes to express its heartfelt and deep appreciation to Dr. Pavani Ellipeddi and Dr. Lauren Juneja of Baton Rouge Hematology/Oncology Clinic; Dr. Nizar Tannir, Dr. Jason Westin, and their teams at MD Anderson Cancer Center; Dena Battle of KCCure; and the team at Baton Rouge General Medical Center for their phenomenal and compassionate care of Angela.
