After a obtaining a degree in finance from the University of Texas at Austin, Jayson found a different calling in the medical field and went on to obtain a master’s degree in nursing from UT. After working as a neonatal nurse, he completed a post master’s neonatal nursing program at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. As a neonatal nurse practitioner, Jayson devoted his career to caring for those babies who came into the world too soon and worked to give them every chance to have a rich, full life. He took his work seriously and coupled it with a boundless compassion that made him successful. He sincerely enjoyed the people with whom he worked and built strong relationships with many of them.
Jayson treasured his friendships. His laughter and effervescent humor were the highlight of any gathering. To know him and to spend time with him was to truly feel a joy of life. Anyone who had the good fortune to share in friendship with him will deeply miss him.
Jayson enjoyed spending time with his family, the adventure of travel, and doing home projects. He could do anything he set his mind to do – and often did. Whenever Jayson set a goal, he’d achieve it. He and his husband recently built their dream house together and shared in the joy of making it a home. While he and his husband traveled to many places in the world, once their daughters were born, they spent most of their vacation time in Cancun, Mexico, one of his favorite destinations.
He is survived by his husband and best friend, Jakob Franzen, daughters Olivia Grace and Juliet Gabrielle, and his parents Delores and Ronald Dreckshage. He’ll also be forever missed by his sister, Shannon Barnes, her husband Keith, and their children Taylor Barnes Reynolds, her husband Jordan, and Caitlyn.
A memorial service celebrating Jayson’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, TX. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
