In 1944, Ed Reynolds was born in Maryland to Jean and Edward Reynolds. He attended high school in Boston and then came to Ann Arbor as an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan. While a student, Ed and two local priests established Canterbury House, a coffee house and well-known performance venue for folk music in the 1960's.
Ed attended Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, Massachusetts and was ordained as an Episcopal Priest in 1972. He served as a parish priest at a church in the downriver area of Detroit for several years before enrolling in law school at the University of Detroit, where he was the Editor of the Law Review.
Ed graduated from law school in 1979 and practiced at law firms in Wayne County, Oakland County and Washtenaw County, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in medical malpractice cases. His last and most favorite job was as a defense malpractice attorney for the University of Michigan Health System. He retired five years ago.
Ed is the beloved husband of Barbara (Hooberman), father of Nathaniel and Samuel Reynolds and stepfather of Amy and Lauren Hooberman. He is the loving grandfather of five: Charlie, Cameron, Lachlan, Oliver and Isaac.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 306 N. Division St., Ann Arbor on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Several of Ed's divinity school classmates will participate in the service.
In lieu of flowers, Ed's family will appreciate donations to the Breakfast Program at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church or to a charity of one's choice, in Ed's name.
