The family of Leo E. Dunn would like to invite family and friends to a gathering to remember and celebrate his life on Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 3 PM to 5 PM at the Clubhouse in the Country Place Subdivision- 11 Country Lane Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
Lloyd and Dorothy Mae (Jenness) Dunn welcomed Leo Erwin Dunn into this world on March 25, 1941 in the small town of Sutton, Vermont. He was preceded by three scrapping brothers; Arnold, Alden, and Earl. They grew up in the Adirondack way; hunting, fishing , and learning how to live the good life. Leo’s mom taught him early in life to be the best person he could be, which he later passed on to his children. He met his future wife while a Senior in High School in Tupper Lake, NY but went on to join the Air Force before coming home from Okinawa to marry the love of his life.
Leo loved his children and was very active in their lives, again, teaching them to hunt and fish. But, living in Louisiana, he didn’t have to teach them how to avoid Bears!! (A couple stories best shared around a bonfire.) Nearly every weekend, the Dunn household was filled with extra kids playing softball, and other games or roasting weenies. Most kids didn’t want to go home. “Brother Leo “or “Pops”, as most called him then, allowed any shenanigans as long as things didn’t get too far out of hand.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Mae (Jenness) Dunn; brothers, Alden and Arnold; grandson, Lane Dunn; daughter-in-law, Ashleigh (Speer) Dunn.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Rosalie Mary (Alberti) Dunn; daughter, Pamela Prause with husband Michael; sons, Todd Dunn, Dale Dunn with wife Sol, Christopher Dunn with wife Crystal and Mark Dunn with wife Shelby; grandchildren , Charity James with husband Jacob, Brittney Prause, Aubrey Dare with husband Devin, Anthony Prause, Gabrielle Dunn, Michael Adams, Angelisa Adams, Ariel Adams, Larkin Dunn, Jessica Dunn, Steven Dunn, Christopher Taylor, Kaleb Taylor, MaKenzie Marr, Michael Marr, Madeline Dunn, Lola Dunn, Ritter Duncan, Hannah Duncan, Jake Duncan, Josh Duncan; great grandchildren Addison and Wyatt James; brother, Earl Dunn with wife Linda; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.
The family would like to thank the VA Medical Center – Overton Brooks of Shreveport and Fresenius Kidney Care on Stafford and Willis Knighton Home Health of Bossier for their kind and compassionate care throughout Leo’s battle.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in his honor be made to www.diabetes.org
