Cecil Thomas "Tommy" Stewart Jr., 68, passed away February 5, 2019, at his home following a battle with cancer. Tommy was born in Winston-Salem on April 22, 1950, to the late Cecil Thomas Stewart, Sr. and Dorothy Rivers Stewart. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Martin, and brother, Mark A. Stewart. Tommy retired from the Winston-Salem Journal after more than 30 years of service. Tommy loved his family. He was a good father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his daughters, Leslie Jones and Jordan Swaim, and his son, Justin T. Stewart (Charlene); three sisters, Pamela Baggett (Bob), Susan Stewart, Lisa Winfree (Mark), and brother, Jeffrey Stewart (Debbie) of Florida; 5 grandchildren, Bailey, Matthew, Andrew Kaylee and Ellie; sister-in-law, Mary Stewart; and brother-in-law, Donald Martin. He was a golfer, a collector, enjoyed cooking on the grill and loved animals, especially his dog, Rod Stewart. He was kindhearted, humorous and could tell a good story. Tommy will be missed. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 8 at 2PM at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 12-2 prior to the service.
