Josefina A. Martinez, 92, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home after succumbing to a lengthy illness, on February 8, 2019. Our beloved mother and grandmother is now resting peacefully in the gentle hands of Our Lord. Josefina long awaited to be reunited once again with her loving husband, Carlos Martinez, Jr., and her mother, Vicenta Portugal, often calling out their names in the evenings.
Josefina held two loves in her life, her grand and great grandchildren and cooking. Seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild survive our mother. She was a hard working woman throughout her life. Her little hands looked very frail at the end but even then she continued to have a firm grip to life. Josefina desired little for herself so that she could provide for her family.
Josefina is survived by her children and grandchildren, Yolanda (Antonio) Balderrama, Melinda Martinez, and David Martinez, and her grandchildren, Lorraine (Andrew) Jackson, Arel (Kerri Ann) Acosta, Jacob (Joanna) Favela, Robert Favela, Yvette (Francisco) Lascurain, Andrew Martinez, and Brandon Rosales.
The Martinez Family wish to extend heartfelt gratitude to the excellent care provided by Envision Hospice, especially Talia, RN and Lourdes, nurse’s aide.
Visitation will be Monday, February 11, 2019 from 5pm-9pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina, with a Vigil/Rosary at 7pm. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 12 at 9:30am at San Antonio Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
