She was for 63 years the loving and adored wife of Albert R. Guiod of Marstons Mills (originally from Dedham, MA); cherished mother of Joan Marie (Randy) Twining of Glen Arm, MD, Mark A. (Suzanne) Guiod of Boston, MA, and Suzanne E. Guiod of Rochester, NY; beloved grandmother of Kristen Guiod of Arlington, VA, Matthew Guiod of Boston, MA, and David Guiod of W. Granby, CT; and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by adopted sisters Kathleen (Bernie) McCall and Alice Townes of California, and sister- and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Daniel Guiod, Sr., of Marstons Mills.
Mary was born June 1, 1933, in Dorchester, MA, graduated from Dorchester High School for Girls, married in Boston in 1956, and raised her family in Dedham, MA, where she had a long and successful career as a real estate agent with Century 21 and ReMax Realty.
In retirement, she enjoyed working for Filene’s Fine Jewelry in Hyannis, and proudly became a certified fitness trainer at Curves for Women in Sandwich, MA. In recent years she especially loved her job as a greeter and hostess at the Craigville Retreat Center, where she made many new friends and “always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.”
With her husband, Mary traveled throughout the country as far as Alaska, Arizona, and Bermuda, and together they frequented favorite New England destinations in Newport, RI, and Ogunquit, ME. With friends and family, she traveled abroad to England, Ireland, France, and Italy. She likewise loved spending quiet time in her lovely home, often indulging her passion for classic Hollywood movies.
Throughout her life, Mary was a devoted, loyal, and much-loved friend, treasured for her endearing charm and gentle, disarming wit. Her warmth, wisdom, sweet face, and loving touch will be forever missed.
