In loving memory of John William Yuille, who passed away February 27th, 2019 at 59 years old. Jay was born in Smithville, Missouri. Jay was always known to have a smile on his face, a kind heart and he was an inspiration to his friends and family till the very end.
He attended Center High School and graduated in 1978. Jay loved all sports. He set many records for Centers’ football and pole-vaulting teams. He went on to graduate from the University of Missouri in 1983 with a Bachelors in Agricultural Business. Jay was known as “the man” on Missouri’s campus. He knew how to make one hell of a bloody-mary. He was an active brother of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity where he established lifelong friendships.
Senior year of college, Jay met the love of his life Kimberly Mucke. Jay was a devoted husband and father of three. He went on to start an office equipment company with one of his dear friends, Bob Boyd. They established four locations with over 60 employees and sold the company in 1999.
Jay lived life to the fullest! His picture-perfect day would be at the Lake of the Ozarks, jamming out to Pat Green on his boat with a Landshark in his hand and a straw hat covering his bare head. He hated being cooped up inside. Jay’s biggest love was his family. He was the center and leader of the family, to whom everyone would gravitate. He always had a way of making people feel at home and welcome.
His journey with dementia was a lesson of dogmatic optimism, in which he seldom waivered. He was diagnosed on August 13th of 2013. He could never drive a car nor his beloved boat again. He was told he would never be able to work either and was forced to sell the remainder of his business in Omaha. That didn’t stop Jay! He would mow the lawn every week, with his straw hat on and Landshark awaiting. He was always looking at life with the glass half full.
Jay lasted four years at our home in Lionsgate until he transitioned into an assisted living facility. His best friends would visit weekly and bring him his favorite treats. They would share precious memories of their time with Jay growing up. After his first month at the facility, Jay felt at home. He made himself useful by taking out the trash, decorating for holidays and looking after other residents. Jay always put others before himself and that was his best quality.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kim; three children, Travis and his wife, Chassadee and their son, Jai, Cathryn and Maggie.
We will miss him greatly, he was the light of our lives.
