Mr. Harold J. Ames, age 84 of Pierrepont, NY passed away on Friday, March 01, 2019 at his residence while under the care of his family and Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 6th from 4-7 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam, NY with Rev. Stephen Rocker celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Thoughts, memories and condolences can be shared @www.garnerfh.com. Mr. Ames is survived by his loving wife Carol Ames; sons John (Kathleen) Ames, Timothy Ames and his companion Kathy Machala, Steven (Becky) Ames, Thomas (Penny) Ames, and Daniel (Judy) Ames; daughter Kathryn (Fay) Bard; sister Iva Martin; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son William Ames; grandchild Cassidy Bard; brothers John and Merrill Ames; and sisters Veronica Rood and Ann Lee.
Mr. Harold J. Ames was born on March 25, 1934 in Potsdam, NY to the late John Ames and Eva Grandaw. He was a graduate of Potsdam Central School. On March 3, 1955 he was married to Carol Dart at the Ogdensburg Cathedral. He retired from Niagara Mohawk with over 30 years of service. He loved working on his hobby farm. He enjoyed camping and playing horseshoes.
