Abbie was born on October 15, 1921 in Perkasie, PA to Lloyd and Lillie (Yoder) Freed. She was the wife of the late Robert Caruso who died in 2000.
Abbie served in the Naval Reserves during WWII and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia as a parachute packer.
She was a stay-at-home mom in Perkasie, and moved to Lincoln, MA when a job opportunity brought her husband to Boston. They retired to Eastham where she loved to host out-of-state family and friends. Abbie loved traveling, either with her husband or a close friend. In her move to the Victorian, she made many new friends, and kept busy with the many offered activities.
Abbie is survived by her sons, James and wife Louise of Chatham, and David and wife Julie, of Peyton, Colorado. Also by grandchildren, Kristen Sequin, David Lee Caruso, Nancy Hickok and husband Randy, Stacy Caruso-Hill and husband Alexander Hill, and Breanna Morales and husband Ruben, and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and her former daughter-in-law Livy Agnello and partner Tim. She was also a special aunt to several nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Minnesota. Abbie was predeceased by her son Barry in 1997, and also by her brothers Russell and Richard Freed, and her sister Katherine Gerhart.
The family wishes to thank the caring staffs at The Victorian Assisted Living, Liberty Commons, and Broad Reach Hospice for her wonderful care during the last years of her life.
Burial will be private.
