Kathryn Rudberg was born Aug. 14, 1918 in Marshfield (Coos Bay), Ore., the youngest child of Evor and Katie Rudberg. After graduation from high school she moved to San Francisco to live with her older sister, and they enjoyed their time together while Kay worked for 10 years at Metropolitan Life Insurance in the “City by the Bay.” During an Oregon trip to visit her parents in 1947, she agreed to a blind date with a man named Robert Kreutzer. It was love at first sight, and they married just a few months later.
Kay enjoyed her time as a stay-at-home mom, and also began her participation in numerous volunteer positions with school and community. They included Meals on Wheels, St. Cecilia School, Red Cross, St. Vincent de Paul and (with Bob) the Beaverton Elks. Her warmth and sincerity will not be forgotten. Special thanks to Jennifer for her care giving and companionship, and the wonderful staff at Maryville in Beaverton for their care of “Miss Kay.”
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; and her beloved Bob. She is survived by sons, Dennis of Beaverton, Mark (Luanne) of St. Helens; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Viewing will be from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m., March 8, 2019, at Pegg Paxson & Springer Mortuary in Beaverton. Funeral will be March 9, 2019, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Beaverton, with rosary at 10:30 a.m. and funeral Mass to follow. In lieu of flowers, Kay requested donations to the St. Vincent de Paul society at St. Cecilia Church. And next time you’re visiting McMenamins, raise a glass of Ruby in Kay’s honor.
