Mr. Dixon was born April 24, 1948 in Clearfield, the son of Lyle and Ruby (Dougherty) Dixon.
He was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School, class of 1966.
Mr. Dixon retired from Kurtz Brothers as a truck driver after 40 years of service.
He was a member of the Glen Richey Primitive Methodist Church.
Mr. Dixon was a lifetime member of the NRA.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, attending his grandsons’ baseball games and was an avid Steelers fan.
He was in the United States Navy Reserves during the Vietnam Era.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lyda J. (Witherite) Dixon whom he married November 29, 1969 at the Oak Ridge Union Church, two children; Jerry L. Dixon, Jr., and his wife Sarah of Bradford and Nicole M. Kushner and her husband Tim of Olanta, five grandchildren; Hunter Dixon, Matthew Kushner, Kyle Kushner, Tyler Dixon and Logan Dixon, a sister, Kay Evans and her husband John of Madera, a number of nieces and nephews and his former daughter-in-law, Laurie Samsel.
Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lyle “Buddy” Dixon, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield with Rev. Duane W. Stiner officiating. Interment will be in Thompson Cemetery, Glen Richey.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until the hour of services.
