Robert was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving 20 years in the USAF. He was proud of travelling the world as a soldier for the USA. After retiring from the USAF he continued working for the government as a civil servant and enjoyed another 20 years out at Edward AFB. He was able to enjoy the action of air shows and the myriad of planes from his scheduling office as well as the space shuttle landings.
He grew up in Richmond, Indiana, on a farm with his 5 brothers and sisters. He took pride in his automobiles, making sure everything was in working order and spent time working on different restoration projects over the years. His favorite pastime was bowling where he enjoyed the comradery, displaying accomplishments on his colorful uniforms and always displaying antics when on the lanes.
He was known for his quick wit loving to say things in his Dad joke way - I'm on a Seafood diet, I see food, I eat it, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He always had a kind word for everyone he met.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:15am on Tuesday, March 26, followed by mass at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Palmdale.
