Jean-Accel St. Clair of Spring Valley, NY, 84 years old, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2019. Jean-Accel lived the majority of his life in Rockland County. He was born on 9 November 1934 to Orneus and Uranise St. Clair in Jeremie, Haiti. He was the youngest of their 9 children and is survived by his only living sibling, Rachelle St. Clair. In 1970, he arrived in Nyack and worked for Western Auto in Tappan as an auto mechanic then at ITW MiniGrip in Orangeburg; he became a US citizen before retiring. He is survived by sons Kennedy, Roger, Clarence Fremont and Nathaniel and his daughters Mimose, Mirmonde, Moanna, Farana Bradley and Patricia. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be deeply missed not only by his family but also by his many friends.
The family will hold both the wake (9-10:30am) and religious service (10:30am-12n) on Saturday, March 16 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. The interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery, Spring Valley, NY where he will be buried next to his wife (Monique LaPierre St. Clair) of nearly 45 years who predeceased him in 2009. Although flowers are welcomed, the family appreciates donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or the Parkinson’s Foundation (parkinson.org) in his memory.
