Louise Dorothy Sheley, 98, of Davenport, IA passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. She will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Louise was born February 6, 1921 in Westside, IA to John and Edith (Moll) Kolln. She graduated from Westside High School in 1938. She met her future husband, James Sheley at the Coliseum Ballroom while attending a dance. During their 45 years together, they continued to dance all around the Quad Cities. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1993. She worked as a computer operator at the former Bear Manufacturing Company in Rock Island, IL and later retired from the Iowa State University EFNEP Program in 1986. Being the oldest girl, she helped with diapers and cooking meals at the age of 8. Louise was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school, Plus 60, Ladies of the Moose, Caldron and Women’s International Bowling Congress. She enjoyed working with house plants, mall walking, bowling, dancing and volunteering. Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Weber; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Johnson, Jessica, and Brian; great grandchildren, Stryker, Dakota and Peyton Johnson; sisters, Louine Nave of Harrisonville, MO, Leola (Donald) Sydzyik of Council Bluffs, IA, Lorraine Kolln of Council Bluffs, IA and Lillian Poublon of Osh Kosh, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; brothers, Ernest, Eldon, Arnold, and Raymond; and son-in-law, George Weber.
