Benjamin grew up in Pompano with his mother (Regina), father (Edward), four brothers (Shawn, Kris, Kenneth, and Robert) and one sister (Karen). Benjamin was better known by his friends and family as Benny, and he was called Benji by those who had a special relationship with him. Benny was a very talented carpenter; he could visualize and build the most intricate creations. Benny was the funny one; he could make a joke or comment that lightened the mood in almost any situation. Benny was kind, caring and generous; he would give his shirt off his back to anyone, even a stranger. Benny was loyal; he would do anything for anyone he cared about, when he could.
Benny was also an addict. Addiction is a very real disease that many want to turn a blind eye to or pass off the responsibility to others. Addiction is a family disease, one person may use, but the whole family suffers.
“Addiction is a special kind of hell. It takes the soul of the addict and breaks the hearts of everyone who loves them” (unknown author).
Benny was not only a son, brother, uncle and friend to many, but he was a father. The BEST of Benny lives on in his children, Karlee and Maximus. Addiction stole Benny’s ability to have a relationship with these two amazing children. His best qualities live on in them. Karlee looks like her dad, she is brilliant, kind, and one of the sweetest teenagers out there. Maximus has his sense of humor, the life of the party, always telling a joke, and he is so smart and loves to take things apart and rebuild them. Benny would be beyond proud of both of these beautiful babes of his. Both children now have a guardian angel watching over them forever, their father, Benny.
Benny succumbed to his addiction on March 16, 2019 in Lauderhill, Florida. All of the wonderful things about Benny were stolen when his addiction took over, until his addiction won, stealing one last thing from him, his life. “Love the addict, Hate the addiction!” Benny is now free and fully restored. He has been reunited with his dog Shadow and the other Miannays that passed before him. Until we meet again, Rest In Peace Benji, you were loved and will hold a special place in our hearts, always and forever.
