Lenora (Lynn) Cooke Sanders was a woman who loved to study the Bible and grow beautiful plants in her yard. She was a tireless teacher of God’s Word to a women’s Sunday School class at Central Baptist Church for over fifty years.
Lenora (Lynn) Cooke Sanders was born in Driscoll, Texas to Lenora and Jesse Cooke on September 11, 1929. She passed away in Baytown on March 31, 2019. She graduated from Beeville High School and attended Southwestern University in San Marcos. Lynn was married to Aubria A. Sanders on May 28, 1948 and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage before his passing in 2017. Lynn enjoyed teaching a ladies Sunday School class at Central Baptist Church in Baytown, and she served as church librarian and was active in mission organizations. Many times she would serve as the Bible Study Leader. Her gardening skills were second to none and always seemed to revive the most barren little twig. Her Easter lilies would bloom profusely at Easter as did the poinsettias at Christmas. She enjoyed seeing the results of hard work with her plants and often shared them with friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Edna Cooke Smith, Jesse Lee Cooke, and Mary Etta Cooke; and her husband, Aubria A. Sanders. Lynn is survived by her sons, Gregory Sanders of Los Angeles, CA, and David Sanders and his wife Teri, of Baytown. She is also survived by her great niece Margo Moore and her husband Mike of Corpus Christi, and a special “daughter” Jennifer Bishop of Trussville, AL.
The family would like to thank Gail for help through the last two years. She helped greatly with Aubria’s time of illness and passing, and the time after.
