James Richard Lane was born in Hartford, Connecticut. He grew up in Deer Park attending and graduating in 1967 from Deer Park High School. His early career was building homes and he then became a roofer, working for the United Roofers & Waterproofers & Allied Workers Union. His wife, Lynda, recalls how good he was. He loved his family, doing home improvement and renovations that kept him busy over the years. He always had a passion for anything with a motor and working on cars.
His attention to detail and making sure everything he did was of top quality, this he passed down to his son Jameson. He had the mind and skill of an artist; a passion and talent which he passed down to his daughter, Veronica. He and Lynda met and enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. They married in 1981 and made their home in Copiague, where they raised their family.
James, Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo and Gleem were all aliases which exemplified all of the many wonderful aspects of his personality. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda; his son, Jameson and his daughter-in-law, Gloria; and his daughter, Veronica. Before he passed, Jimmy happily learned of the upcoming birth of his first grandchild. Also surviving are his siblings – Richard (Sue), Patricia (Mike) Meyers, John, Theresa (Barry) Book, Gloria (Larry) Holcomb, Deborah McMahon, Jeff , Brian and Keith (Meg) Lane; his mother-in-law, Marilyn David; his sister-in-law, Michelle (Tom) Flaherty and his brother-in-law, Brian (Janet) Fullan.
Predeceasing Jimmy are his parents, Helen and John Lane; his brother, Paul Lane; his sister-in-law, Nancy Fullan, his brother-in-law, Rick McMahon; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Lane.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday for Memorial Visitation from 2- 6 p.m. Jim will be remembered at this weekends Sunday Masses at St. Martin of Tours in Amityville; the Church where he and Lynda were married.
