He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Mississippi State University. Al started his distinguished career in the United States Air Force at the Armament Laboratory working on numerous weapons systems. Following that assignment he served as the AF Boeing Plant Rep Officer in Seattle. He was honorably discharged and entered in Civil Service at the Armament Laboratory at Eglin. He was lead engineer on numerous weapons programs, test manager for GAU-8 and 30mm gun pod as well as working on the insensitive high explosive program. As career broadening, he served as Chief of Plans and Programs for the Direct Fire Program Office as well as the Munitions Division. Following that assignment, he was development facility manager for the $30M Advanced Warheads Experimentation Facility. In his final Lab position, he was the Ordnance Integration Technical Advisor. In addition to his civil service career, he served his country for 28 years in the Air Force reserves retiring as Lt. Col. He was the utmost patriot.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; son, Wade; daughter, Noel Casey; and grandsons, Nathan Welle and Reed Casey.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am, Friday, April 12th at Crosspoint Methodist Church in Niceville, Fl.
