Born June 4, 1922 in West Point, Iowa she was the 2nd of 7 children. After receiving her Registered Nurse degree from DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, she joined the U.S. Air Force where she served for over six years. Serving in WWII, she cared for many injured young men in the orthopedic wing on the island of Attu in the Aleutian Islands. She met the love of her life, Colonel Charles R. Samms, also a member of the Air Force, when she was a nurse for a Life Flight mission for a small child and he was the pilot. They were married in 1950; Charles R. predeceased her.
Pat loved socializing with family and friends. She truly enjoyed telling stories of her many adventures while serving our country. Pat was honored in 2009 to be a participant in the 1st Honor Flight for our WWII veterans with a trip to the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C.. Even in her final days she continued to exhibit her strong Love of Country.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Samms Hubert and husband Louie Hubert, her daughter, Charlene M. Levinson and her husband Bob Levinson, grandson Robert Bulmer and his wife Townie and their children Chase and Reagan, grandson David Levinson, Jason and Lindsey Canada and their children Lakyn, Tatum, Celena and Paxton and Blake and Malissa Hubert and their son Lex, along with the Kaltefleiter, Bohnenkamp and Jones families . She will continue to bring joy and laughter to all as we remember her.
A visitation for Lucille will be held Monday, April 8, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ridout's Prattville Chapel. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM located at Ridout's Prattville Chapel. Burial will occur immediately following at Prattville Memory Gardens.
