C.L. Nelms was born in Natchitoches, LA on December 4, 1939 and passed away April 7, 2019. C.L. graduated from Natchitoches High School and attended Northwestern State University. At an early age C.L. taught himself to play the guitar and later the piano. He was a well know musician and singer for many years. He and his first wife, Sandra travelled extensively to promote his Country Gospel career.
Retiring from Sears after 30 years, he established C&L Appliance Repair and worked until illness forced his final retirement. C.L. still continued to play and sing locally, however, was always willing to stop what he was doing to share a cup of coffee and visit with his friends and customers.
C.L. was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra, parents; Clay and Edna Nelms, beloved sister Joyce and her husband, Billy Black. Mr. Nelms is survived by his second wife of 15 years, Bennie Nelms and his four children and their spouses; Keith and Tonya, Kim and Jeff Berg, Kendell and Miriam and Kellie Nelms. He also enjoyed being PawPaw to eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He leaves behind a host of friends and extended family and all of his fellow musicians.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with Brother Keith Rothra officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Final burial is at Yankee Springs Cemetery at Goldonna, LA.
Mrs. Nelms wishes to express her appreciation to Haven Care Nursing Home Administration and Staff for their loving care shown to Mr. Nelms during his battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
