Otto will be sorely missed by his family and friends, including his beloved wife and partner of 62 years, Faye Churchill Stracener, and his surviving sons, Kenneth and Bobby, and their families.
While Otto will be missed, we rejoice in the fact that he is in the presence of his Heavenly Father and has been reunited with many friends and family members, including his parents, Luther and Ida Stracener, and his eldest son Dale.
Otto is survived by his wife Faye Churchill Stracener of Southside, AL; sons Kenneth (Debbie) Stracener and Bobby (Wanda) Stracener of Birmingham, AL; daughter-in-law Tina Stracener of Rainbow City, AL; grandchildren Jana (Shea) Chisolm of Hattiesburg, MS; Dr. Tyler Stracener (David) of Birmingham, AL; Brodie (Candi) Stracener of Rainbow City, AL; Haley Stracener and Dalton Stracener of Birmingham, AL; great grandchildren Katherine Chisolm of Ruston, LA; Emma, Conner, and Jackson Chisolm of Hattiesburg, MS; Bristol and Tinley Stracener of Rainbow City, AL; and Carter Stracener of Birmingham, AL; sister Dean Hamby of Thorsby, AL; and brothers R. Lee (Joyce) Stracener of Albertville, AL and Curtis (Jean) Stracener of Rentz, GA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Otto was a family man, who treasured his wife, three children, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was a hard working man from early on in life. He farmed and was a truck driver for a time. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, receiving three service medals. He worked for Sherman Industries for forty years where he served in various roles including plant superintendent. Otto loved to fish and to tend to his garden, and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, the University of Alabama, and NASCAR racing. He was a caring and giving man, who would help anyone, anytime. He truly valued the friendships he shared with Gary and Macy Rich, Neil and Dolly Cooper, and Larry and Vonda Simpson.
