ROBERT N. HAMILTON age 79, passed on from this world April 7, 2019 after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. Bob was the beloved son of the late Charles and Eleanor Hamilton, brother to Fred Hamilton (Rosemary) (both deceased), Christine Nuss (Morrey), Tom Hamilton (Jan), John Hamilton (Meg) and Jane Nied (Ron), in addition to many loving nieces and nephews. Bob attended East Cleveland Schools and Wittenberg University. In 1963 he joined the Army and served in Germany for four years. Upon his return from the military in 1967 he joined his father at Hamilton Insurance Agency and then in 1968 along with his brother Tom they formed their own agency, Hamilton Insurors Inc. Bob married Dolly Ann Prinz in 1967 and though divorced remained friends till Dolly's passing in 2014. Bob left the family business in 1977 and moved to France, with his Bull Terrier, to attend school and finish his degree at the Sorbonne in Paris. During his time in France Bob joined a rugby club and from that formed life time friendships with many of his teammates. In later life the rugby team became a bike club and for seventeen years Bob sojourned back to France to tour some portion of France or other part of Europe on the club's annual bike trip. Bob worked for the Prescott Ball and Turben brokerage firm as the national sales manager of Prescott's money market funds but left to form his own investment partnership which ran successfully for 30 years. For 15 years up until his death he was an active member of the board of The Friends of the East Cleveland Library. He was a long time member of the Old Stone Church and served as a valuable member of Old Stone's investment committee. Bob was a unique individual who had a broad spectrum of friends that crossed many social boundaries. He was a Big Brother and tutored children in the Cleveland schools for many years. He was a collector of books and was a voracious reader but loved above all else his large wonderful family, all of whom will miss him terribly. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bob's memory to Old Stone Church, 91 Public Square, Cleveland, OH 44113. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for the Funeral Service 11:00 AM Saturday April 13th at Old Stone Church (Please use Ontario St. entrance for valet parking).
