Ruby was born on November 27, 1917 in Harnett County the daughter of the late Clarence Grayson Colville and Lena Belle Godwin Colville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Emory Stewart. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, John Colville, James H. Colville & William Robert Colville and sisters, Maggie C. Darroch & Mary C. Stafford.
Ruby retired from Erwin Mills with 32 years of service, but she still worked, she was the owner and operator of Royal Duke Florist working well into her 90’s.
Ruby was one of a kind, she loved to cook and invite people to come and eat. She cooked for people sick and shut in, She was a “Meals on Wheel” before there was a “Meals on Wheels.” She loved people and enjoyed doing for others. She loved fishing and continued going fishing well into her 90’s and when she had a good day fishing, she cooked her catch and shared with friends and family by cooking and inviting them to eat.
She enjoyed traveling going on trips to New York City, the Bahamas and many other places.
She attended Antioch Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and was very active all of her life. She enjoyed her Senior Citizen Sunshine Group at the church.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Antioch Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Hamilton & Rev. Buster Wiley officiating. Burial will follow in Erwin Memorial Park.
She is survived by her son: Ronald E. Stewart & (wife) Delores of Dunn, NC.
Grandchildren: Angela Stewart Byrd & (husband) John of Clayton, NC.
Bryan Joseph Stewart & (wife) Rachel Kathleen of Florence, SC
Great Grandchildren: Georgia Byrd, John Stewart, III, Chesley Bryan Stewart, Grayson Thomas Stewart.
