A graveside service for Earl Johnson will be held Friday, April 12th, 2019 at 11:00 am at Box Cemetery located in Vian, OK. Brother Donald Robertson will be officiating. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.reedculver.com
Honorary pallbearers for Earl will be Jack Medearis, Colton Johnson, Chris Harper, Tristan Scott and Steven Scott.
Earl Johnson was born Tuesday, October 7th, 1941 in Blackgum, OK to Earnest and Susie (Cowett) Johnson. Earl spent his days doing what he loved, being a true cowboy. He honestly enjoyed the hard work of being a ranch hand and loved the freedom of being on horseback. Earl met the love of his life, Eleonore Ifflander, and began a beautiful family. They were blessed with two sons, Earl Jr. and Clint and two daughters, Michelle and Cindy Ann. He spent 13 years serving the country he loved in the United States Army; receiving a Purple Heart for his sacrifices in Vietnam.
Earl could be found spending time in his garden tending his plants and taking in the fresh air and sunshine. As a grandfather, Earl continued to enjoy the peace he found in the cowboy lifestyle, watching westerns such as Bonanza and Gunsmoke and reading Louis L’Amour books. Earl was a loving and devoted family man who liked spending time and joking with family and friends. Earl was a fantastic cook, especially when it came to preparing duck it was his way of to getting everyone together for a visit. He adored the time he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything. Earl’s sweet and loving soul went to ride in greener pastures on Wednesday, April 10th, 2019 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 77.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Susie Johnson, his beloved wife Eleonore, one daughter, Cindy Ann Johnson, two sisters, Margie Johnson and Mary “Diner” Moore and his brother, Floyd Johnson.
Earl is survived by his two sons, Earl Johnson Jr. and Clint Johnson of Tahlequah, OK, one daughter,
Michelle Scott and husband Steven of Welling, OK, and one sister, Peggy Harper of Blackgum, OK. Left to carry on the “cowboy way” are nine grandchildren, Nicole White of California, Dylan Girdner of Texas, Kyndra Johnson of Fort Gibson, OK Breanna Medearis and husband Jack of Tahlequah, OK, Cheyanne Kirkhart and husband Keifer of Fort Gibson, OK, Colton Johnson, Jasey Johnson, Sabrina Johnson all of Tahlequah, OK and four great-grandchildren, Tristan Scott of Welling, OK, Kharis Tajeda, Taylynn White, and Paizlee White all of California, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
