Janice McDaniel, 86, of Columbia passed away April 9, 2019. A visitation will be held on Saturday April 20th, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with a memorial service following at 2:00 pm, both at Missouri United Methodist Church McMurry Chapel. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Janice was born in Versailles, MO to Tom and Leota Gulick, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Gulick of Sedalia and a sister, Wanda Hopper of Colorado Springs. She graduated from Versailles High School and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. She was united in marriage to Norris Dean McDaniel in 1954. She worked for the Missouri State Highway Department and for the University of Missouri where she retired after 18 years of service. Janice volunteered at the Wardrobe and as an Ombudsman in Columbia area nursing homes for 20 years.
Janice belonged to the Gibson Circle at Missouri United Methodist Church and very much enjoyed Community Bible Study. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a passion for sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and MU Tigers fan.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Sally) McDaniel of Kansas City and Larry (Linda) of Gladstone; two granddaughters, Jenna and Alyssa McDaniel of Kansas City; one niece, Deanna Alter of Colorado Springs; great nephew, Gary David Alter and great niece, Kelly Higgins of Colorado Springs.
