Jeanne D. (Hunt) Holmes, age 82, of Peachtree Corners, Georgia passed away on Thursday April 11, 2019. A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, April 15, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia.
Jeanne was born on February 21, 1937, in Abbeville, AL; the daughter of Jessie James Hunt and Mary Joan Hunt. She married Walter Monroe Holmes in 1953 in Phenix City, AL; together they had 3 children.
Jeanne was a lady that loved her Savior Jesus Christ; she loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker. Her children learned several wonderful traits, such as not being judgmental, to have and exercise faith, to be patient, and to be humble. Without even trying, she had a way of making everyone laugh when she would tell a story or explain something. Jeanne was a leasing agent, in Atlanta, for 15 years. To know Jeanne, you would know, she enjoyed shopping, especially shopping for shoes, in fact she loved shoes. Her favorite movie was Steel Magnolias; she enjoyed decorating, entertaining, and having dinner parties. Her family will miss many things about their mom and grandmother, near the top of that list would be her cooking, especially her banana pudding, potato salad, and cornbread dressing.
She is preceded in death by; her husband, Walter Monroe Holmes, and a brother, Bill Hunt. Survivors include; two daughters Patty Williams (Walt Cannady), Pamela (Michael) Haines; a son, Michael (Sherry) Holmes; a sister Angie (Terry) Hancock; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchild.
